How is it almost August already? Where did this summer go? These are questions I don’t have the answer to. I also have a number of questions about what we will see at ILTACON 2017, which will be held August 13-17 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. My takeaways from last year’s ILTACON included news about NetDocuments and Microsoft, the “New” iManage, alternative Document Management Systems, and emerging technologies.
At a high level, these are still the main areas I want to learn more about. How will NetDocuments, with its release of version 17.2, further its relationship with Microsoft? What’s the latest on iManage Cloud and the Work 10 platform? Has there been additional traction of SharePoint as a DMS, or other emerging products or technologies?
In addition to exploring the Exhibit Hall floor and getting the latest from my industry colleagues, I’ve reviewed the ILTACON educational session grid and selected a number of ECM-related sessions that I think will be very interesting.

Wednesday
9:00am – Everything You Need to Know About EU General Data Protection Regulation, but Were Afraid to Ask (Until Now) – Really long title, but really important if your firm does business in the EU.
11:00am – Document Comparison: Workshare Strikes Back – How can you possibly say no to another Star Wars themed title?
11:00am – 60 New Features in Office 2016/Office 365 You Didn’t Know Existed – Make a game out of it. See how many of these you actually didn’t know about.
Thursday
11:15am – Collaborative Editing: Is 2017 the Year of the Co-Author in Legal? – I’ve seen a couple firms embrace this. See if this is possible with your DMS product, and the available benefits.
11:15am – Encryption Solutions: Safeguarding Your Firm’s Environment – This is more about hardware encryption than software/application encryption, but a good primer if you want to learn more about encryption technologies.
As you can see, Monday is rather packed. Especially 4pm Monday. If you can’t attend every session you want, remember that most sessions are recorded and can be viewed after you get home.
