VMware recently announced changes to the vSphere product line, including discontinuation of some products and pricing increases for others. Highlights include the following:

End of availability effective June 30, 2016

  • vSphere Enterprise
  • vSphere with Operations Management Standard
  • vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise

Price changes effective April 1, 2016 (all prices suggested MSRP)

  • vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise Plus from $4,245/CPU to $4,395/CPU
  • vCenter Server Standard from $4,995/instance to $5,995/instance

These changes reflect VMware’s desire to simplify the core product lineup by reducing it to the following, which reflects the most common use cases:

  • vSphere Standard
  • vSphere Enterprise Plus
  • vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise Plus

Existing vSphere Enterprise and vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise customers are eligible for an upgrade to the corresponding Enterprise Plus version at 50% off through June 25, 2016.
