New Goner Virus Reinforces Need For E-Mail Content & Virus Checking

The recent release of yet another e-mail virus left some firms scrambling this past week. If you don't currently use an e-mail content and virus checking product, please re-visit the KKL eReport Archives' September 2001 article titled "Is Your Content Secure?"

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Planning

Business continuity and disaster recovery planning is no longer a “nice to have.”  Companies and law firms alike are suddenly aware of risks, some new and some old, that threaten their ability to continue operating.  In response, firms are not simply dusting off existing disaster recovery plans.  Rather, they are re-thinking their plans and re-engineering their capabilities to provide greater protection and faster recovery.  What’s involved in this critical planning process? E-mail Retention Dilemmas

The ever-rising tide of e-mail poses distinct challenges for firm management, attorneys, staff, and IT administrators.  No retention policy or administration solution is likely to be effective unless it addresses the separate perspectives of these “users.”   What are the concerns of each of these groups?  Why is it so difficult to find a solution everyone can agree on? Project Management and Your Success

Technology Financing Options

All too often, administrators and partners spend lots of time and effort evaluating and planning a new technology initiative only to be stopped dead in their tracks by the question “So how do we pay for it?” Extended debate on that issue can cause the plan to grow stale, causing still further delays for its revision, reconsideration, and re-approval.  Understanding financing options and discussing them early on with your firm’s accountant or controller can help you to move forward on technology improvements that the firm really needs.  Cash and bank loans aren’t the only options.  Leasing has many advantages that might be worth considering.  To help prepare for technology budget planning, we asked a leasing expert, U.S. Bancorp Oliver-Allen Technology Leasing, for a quick overview of financing options.
