Happy Holidays and Law Firm Technology Success in 2013

I hope all of you have had a wonderful 2012, and are ready to jump into 2013.

Besides enjoying family and taking a little time off, I'm thankful for what worked well in 2012, and vowing to learn from the lessons that came our way.

Legal Technology Thoughts & Reflections for the New Year

Climate change … and not just the weather. All of us are seeing significant changes in how we do business, how we need to be prepared for the unexpected, and how we need to leverage all of our available resources to meet the challenges ahead.

Disasters (e.g., Hurricane Sandy). We all know we need to be prepared, but we only find out how well we did after a disaster happens.

Generally flat market for legal services, and most firm's having already wrung the operational savings out that they can (a one-time gain).

Our data is going everywhere. There's the nearly ubiquitous iPad and pressure to share files as easily as DropBox. Where is your data and your clients' data? Who has access to it? Can you control where it is?

Business is changing with increased focus on security and information governance — All while our data is going everywhere.

It's a whole new world. Again. Yes, there will be many legal technology challenges in 2013. Still, it's an exciting time.

What are you thinking about this holiday season? Please leave a comment and let me know your lessons learned from 2012 and what you're preparing for in 2013.
